When was the feather duster invented
It picks up the dust and traps it so it doesn't fly around in the air helping to keep a cleaner home, all I can say; I wish I invented this.
But, I did invent the Kootoo Kit. My fluffy had everything to do with the WHY of my invention. With so many different surfaces in our homes, each surface has to be cleaned a different way. The only way to clean this wood is to actually vacuum it off. I happen to love and use the Method brand almond dusting spray. It's all natural, it smells wonderful and it doesn't leave a residue on my wood after I have cleaned with it. I also love my Swiffer duster which I call my fluffy.
I have one that is short and I have one that also extends so I can clean off my fans and high reaching lights and mirrors. When you're cleaning the cabinets in a kitchen you may need a little extra help because there's a lot of oils that get trapped on your wood.
I like to wash them down with Murphy's soap and then depending on what kind of cabinets you have I use a dusting spray to clean and shine them. So let's talk about dusting blinds. Blinds can be tricky because most tools that clean the blinds are hard to get into the small spaces or around the string, if you have those kinds of blinds. This method seems to clean the blinds perfectly. I like to clean the window runners and maybe clean the window as I'm going, it just seems to make it so much easier.
The thing about dusting is everyone has to do it. Whatever system works for you and your circumstances, that's the best; it doesn't matter what other people do in their homes, your level of cleanliness and the way you do it is your business and you get to choose. I happen to love cleaning, it makes me feel relaxed; but I love to do it with a certain ambience around. For example; I love music playing in the background with a candle burning and then the product that I use needs to smell wonderful.
Yes it's a job that needs to be done but it's also a job that will make you feel so good. That brings up another question, how often we should dust? The first ostrich feather duster company in the United States was formed in by Harry S. It has become the dominant tempo of modern history , especially of the history of Europe. Home Contact Privacy.
The feather duster was considered a status symbol in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It is well recognized that different kinds of feather dusters are required to do a given job.
For example, a soft feather duster will lift certain kinds of dust but will not move others so that for one job stiff feathers are needed and for another, only soft feathers can be used. It is the primary object of my invention to provide a feather duster comprised of a cluster of more than one kind of feathers with the feathers arranged in a novel combination and arrangement whereby one feather duster so constructed can be utilized to do the work which heretofore required two or more different separate dusters, and further, to provide by my invention, an arrangement whereby the useful life of the feather duster is considerably prolonged.
Another object of this invention is to provide, in a manner as hereinafter described and shown, a feather duster comprised of a combination of soft feathers and stiff feathers not only to thereby provide a duster useful for more than one type of dusting but also wherein the soft and the stiff feathers coact to reinforce and to supplement the actions of one another. A further object of this invention is to provide unique arrangements of combinations of different kinds of feathers.
Still another object of this invention is to provide a feather duster comprised of combinations of turkey feathers and ostrich feathers or feathers functionally equivalent thereto.
Yet another object of this invention is to provide a feather duster comprised of a combination of different kinds of feathers, whereby the duster will perform a wiping and lifting action. The plug 24 is provided with an actuating button The feathers 22 are extended from and retracted into the handle 21 by the user manipulating the actuating button 26 in the desired direction. The actuating button 26 comprises a thumb piece 28 mounted on a pin 30 having a barbed member 32 on its end.
The barbed member 32 is flexible so that it may be frictionally held within the bore 34 in the plug The hook 21 comprises a ring 36 having a stem 38 which terminates in a barbed portion The hook 21 is affixed to the end 14 of the handle 12 by inserting the barbed portion and stem through an opening 41 in the end The barbed portion is formed of flexible material so that the outer lip folds back against the stem 38 as it passes through the opening Once through, the outer lip extends outwardly as shown in FIG.
The individual feathers are mounted on the plug 24 in a predetermined spaced relationship. It is because of the spacing of feathers that the static electricity is formed. This phenomenon is not completely understood but such static electricity does not occur in such prior art devices such as that of Krasne U. The one end of the plug 24 is provided with a plurality of concentric annular grooves 42 as best shown in FIG. The annular grooves are radially spaced equal distances from each other.
Each feather 22 is mounted on the plug 24 by inserting the shaft 44 into an annular groove 42 and securing it therein with suitable adhesive.
